  • My father turned 22 on June 3, 1944. They were briefed that probably over 50% would not return from their mission. He flew C-47s and participated in Operation Overlord on D-Day dropping the 82nd Airborne before daylight.

  • The GREATEST Generation indeed. I am so thankful to still have my father, who flew C-47s dropping the 82nd Airborne before dawn on D-Day. He celebrated his 89th birthday on June 3. He had just turned 22 when Operation Overlord was executed. He also participated in Operation Market Garden.

  • My father was based at Cottesmore, England, and has many stories of the kindness and hospitality. He learned to play cribbage in England, and still has the board he was given at that time.
